What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is the use of direct pressure on your feet or hands to promote relaxation and circulation across the whole body, bringing your health back into balance by boosting your natural healing responses.

How does it work?

Whilst modern reflexology has been around since the 1970's, it is based on techniques and knowledge that has been known for thousands of years and similar practices can be seen in Ayurvedic Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

There are over 7000 nerves in each foot, connected to the rest of your body. When your feet become congested, tender and tight, this can represent an imbalance within you. Releasing this congestion in the feet has a corresponding effect within the body, improving blood flow and the removal of toxins.

What can it do for me?

By releasing congestion and promoting relaxation, you may find that reflexology could help you to;

-
Reduce stress and anxiety
-
Recover from illness and injury
-
Improve conception and fertility

What is Meridian Therapy?

Based on the same principles of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, meridian therapy works by massaging specific acu-points (also know as potent points) along your meridian lines in the hands and feet to promote better health. I use gentle finger pressure and stretching techniques to help bring your meridians into balance, combining it with the massage techniques of Reflexology.

What can I expect from a session?

For your first treatment, there will be an additional 15 minute consultation to get an accurate picture of your current health. With this information, I can give you a personalised and effective treatment plan.

You will be invited to remove shoes and socks, choose an organic balm and relax in a recliner chair whilst I examine and wash the feet, before starting the treatment.
You can talk as much or as little as you wish throughout the treatment and I will communicate anything of note to you. On completion, you have the opportunity to relax before I discuss my evaluation and any aftercare advice.

Reasons why I could not treat you today.

As with all therapies, there may be instances where treatment is not appropriate or beyond my professional knowledge. This could be due to;

-
Acute undiagnosed pain
-
Imminent medical test (next 7 days)
-
Thrombosis / D.V.T.
-
Severe varicose veins
-
Cellulitis
-
Have returned from a recent flight (in the last 48 hours)
-
Fever / Diarrhoea / Vomiting
-
Contagious disease
-
Unstable heart condition
-
First trimester of pregnancy

I reserve the right to cancel or stop a treatment if I believe my personal boundaries or safety are at risk.

Your Reflexologist
Hi, I'm Myles, a veteran of HM Armed Forces with over a decade of service. My passion for complementary therapy, yoga and martial arts has led me to create Valley Spirit Health and Fitness, to help others find a way to improve their health and wellbeing and achieve their highest self.

I have been a firm believer and user of acupressure massage techniques for many years, practicing on myself and family for effective relief of symptoms. Upon leaving HM Armed Forces, I decided to take this interest further and develop it into a passion and a new career as a Reflexologist.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, working on arts and crafts projects, growing my own food and going on woodland walks with my wife and daughter.
